The setup, one step at a time
Open the Google Play Store
You will find it on the home screen, or under Apps on Google TV. Make sure a Google account is signed in first, since the store happily lets you browse without one and then trips at the install.
Install an IPTV player
Search for TiViMate IPTV Player or IPTV Smarters Pro. If this screen is a television rather than a tablet, take TiViMate: the guide is the whole reason it exists and it is clearly ahead of the rest.
Add a playlist or Xtream login
TiViMate prompts you to Add playlist, then offers Xtream Codes login; Smarters words it as Login with Xtream Codes API. Either way you hand over the same server address, username and password.
Wait for channels and guide to load
It now pulls the channel list and the programme data, a minute or two on a first run and quicker after. Name the playlist if it asks; that only matters if you add a second one down the line.
Organise your channels
Switch off the categories nobody will open, pin the ones the household will, set the language, and keep the kids row near the top. TiViMate holds this under Settings, then Playlists. The ten minutes spent here is the gap between a usable television and a wall of channels.
When something will not play
Play Store does not show the app
Some budget boxes run the phone build of Android, which hides TV-only listings. Sideload the APK through Downloader instead, following the same sequence as the Firestick guide.
EPG is empty
Let the first download finish before judging it, then trigger Update EPG in the app settings. The guide source rides along with your login, though support can hand over a standalone URL for the odd player that demands one.
