The setup, one step at a time
Get the app on the device
On Android TV and Google TV it is a normal Play Store install. A Firestick needs the Downloader sideload covered in the Firestick guide. Apple, Samsung and LG have no build at all, so those screens use IPTV Smarters instead.
Point it at your account
Launch it, pick Add playlist, then Xtream Codes login, and feed in the server address, username and password from your message before pressing Next. No M3U link is requested and none is needed.
Label it and let it download
Give the playlist a name you will still recognise if a second one ever joins it, then wait as the channels and guide come down. The category question it asks can be revisited any time, so there is no need to labour over it here.
Wire up the guide
In Settings, TV guide, set the refresh to every 12 hours. Because the guide source rides along inside the Xtream login, there is no separate EPG address to hunt down and paste, unlike a few other players.
If you want it: Premium
The upgrade is bought oddly — in the separate TiViMate Companion app on a phone, never inside TiViMate on the television, which trips up almost everyone. Reckon on about $9.99 a year or a lifetime key in the mid-thirties, there is a seven-day trial, and it opens up recording, multi-view and more than one playlist.
When something will not play
TiViMate says "playlist could not be loaded"
First confirm the server address still carries its port and the plan has not lapsed. Then key the password in by hand instead of pasting it, since text lifted from a chat window tends to drag an invisible space in with it.
Guide shows "no information"
Trigger Update now under Settings, TV guide, then restart the app. On a large channel list a first guide load can also simply need more patience than people tend to give it.
