The setup, one step at a time
Allow apps from unknown sources
Out of the box Fire OS refuses outside installs. Open Settings, then My Fire TV, then Developer Options, and turn on "Apps from Unknown Sources". On newer builds that switch stays hidden until an app asks for it, so if it is not there yet, carry on and it appears as "Install unknown apps" beside Downloader.
Install the Downloader app
From the home screen, open search, type Downloader, and pick the orange one from AFTVnews. Install it, launch it once, and grant the storage permission it requests, because the next step quietly fails without it.
Download IPTV Smarters Pro
Inside Downloader, click the address bar and type the short link from your WhatsApp chat, or the official Smarters APK address, then press Go. The installer opens by itself when the download lands: choose Install, then Done, then Delete to clear the APK off the stick.
Open the app and choose Xtream Codes login
The freshly installed app drops into Your Apps and Channels rather than the top row, which is where people mislay it. Open it, accept the terms, and select "Login with Xtream Codes API".
Enter your GaroxTv login
Give the profile any name at all, then type the username, password and server address exactly as they were sent, http:// and port included. Press Add User and it starts pulling the channel list and guide, which takes a minute on the first run.
Start watching
Open Live TV, choose a category and pick a channel. Hold the select button to add a favourite; building a row of thirty or forty is what makes a list this size livable night to night, and it is where the kids row is worth pinning. If the picture stutters, go to Settings, Player settings and set the decoder to hardware.
When something will not play
Downloader says the file cannot be downloaded
Almost always a mistyped address, so re-enter it slowly or ask support for the mirror. Failing that, confirm unknown sources really is enabled for Downloader in particular, which is its own separate toggle on newer Fire OS.
Login fails with "invalid credentials"
The server field is the usual offender. It needs http:// on the front and the port on the end, like http://server:8080. Pasted text often smuggles in a trailing space, so type it out by hand once before deciding the account is at fault.
Channels buffer in the evening
Try hardware decoding first, since it costs nothing. If the stick sits on Wi-Fi and the router is across the house, an Ethernet adapter fixes it for good. Where an ISP squeezes streaming at peak hours, a VPN on a close server brings the speed back.
